EdenFantasys.com Debacle
So yesterday a whole shit storm of things happened regarding EdenFantasys.com.
I was going along my merry way, checking out the forum over there like I always do, when I came across this thread which had been posted moments before. My first feelings? Shock and outrage. I mean, how rude! I saw my twitter feed a couple minutes later when Epiphora herself linked to the post. Soon enough, the thread was alive. Not surprisingly.
Because here’s the thing about Epiphora, she’s fucking amazing. I very rarely talk to her [although we follow each other on twitter]. The only time I recall actually talking to her is when I asked her a question on formspring and she told me that she was going to save it for her next Ask Epi. That’s it. So, really, I’m not a friend, just a mere acquaintance, if that. I do read her blog though. As do MANY others. Because like I said, she’s awesome. We are on total different ends of the spectrum, because she gets a bajillion of hits a day [hyperbole perhaps...] and I get about 50 [unique visitors, not pageviews]. I’m rambling, what I really want to get to is my feelings on this banning.
WTF? You all know that I adore edenfantasys.com. They are the site that I mainly review for. I’ve raved about them all over my blog, formspring, and twitter. When non-sex blogger friends ask where they should shop, I tell them EF every time. I also write for Edencafe, a blog that I love. Not to mention I am a video reviewer and a mentor [got accepted to their mentor program yesterday too].
Seriously, here was my first tweet…
And here was my second one [three hours later]…
I went from ‘my fave site’ to ’shocked’ and ‘disappointed’. It doesn’t really sound like I’m talking about the same place does it? A lot of people over at the thread are voicing their disappointment, which I am very happy about. Also, as someone pointed out, they are being very diplomatic about it at the same time. But here’s the thing, I don’t want to be diplomatic, I think it is a crappy thing that they did because there may be some grudges or personal boo boos held by some people over there. Because Epiphora didn’t do shit. Oh, she said that some Mommy blogger had a layout that gave her a headache? It does induce headaches!!! She was telling the truth!!!
But recently it seems like the Mommy blogger advertisements [because only those out of their minds would call them a reviews] are more important to Edenfantasys than the real reviewers.
I am left in a position where I genuinely don’t know what to do. I love EF, I really do [I've hosted two contests that were SELF FUNDED for them]. I can say with confidence if it were any other company that I review for, I would be emailing a [polite but straightforward] letter saying I could no longer review for them. Any. Other. Company. So what makes saying this to EF so hard? I get all my damned giftcards to EF. I write for EF. I love EF. I get the majority of my affiliate money through EF. I video review for EF. And yet the same company that I love, is hating on one of the biggest and best sex bloggers out there.
Epiphora did post on her blog about it all. Which is a million times more eloquent than anything I could write here. Please go read it. Get both sides of the story. Figure out for yourself where you stand.
I’m put at a crossroads. I am scared to put my honest opinion on the forums. I am scared to voice my opinion that I think that they fucked up big time. Because I could be next. Not that I am trying to compare myself to her. It is the feeling that most reviewers are getting from the thread put up.
Epiphora isn’t the first, and that makes me wonder who is next…

Great post. I appreciate that you feel so strongly about this, despite not really knowing me very well. I like what I’ve seen of you, too.
It’s a hard situation to be in. It’s going to have to be something you think about. See how it pans out in the next few days. How EF handles it. There are always other companies, but I also understand if you decide to stay.
Thanks again for your support. I really do appreciate it greatly.
I have been a community administrator/moderator/mediator in the past. I am four children’s mother. I can -always- see both sides of the coin and make sense of it all. But this? This still has me so confused and shaking my head.
I told my husband what happened, reading him different posts from the forums and he said ‘really? A ban is kind of severe, for any reason, let alone something that vague and mild.’ and ‘It sounds like a community/store that takes itself WAY too seriously.’ I had to run it past him because I thought I might be too emotionally invested in it to be thinking clearly.
I think my grandma would say that what has been done ‘cuts off their nose to spite their face.’
I just posted on my own blog about this, and will be withdrawing from EF. I can’t stand behind this decision, and I find it appalling. I’m glad I’m not the only one speaking up about it.
Much of this happened in 2008 in the fall with me, AAG and ThatToyChick. Many left the company, but a good number decided to stay. It looks like it’s happening again. Between us, Epiphora, The Cock Wrangler, The Snarling Misanthrope, Deliliah Douglas and more…I think they’re making their stance clear on how they feel about treating members of the community (keep in mind when I started, I worked for them for a year and a half, create the forums, built the review program from 100 to over 1000, etc…and then was treated like dirt).
I respect your decision either way, just keep in mind the history.
